Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how Snap Rides Limited ("Snap Rides", "we", "us") collects, uses, and protects your personal information when you use our ride-hailing app in Juba, South Sudan.
1. What We Collect
- Name and phone number (required to create your account)
- Live location (while the app is open — used to find nearby drivers and track your trip)
- Trip history (pickup, dropoff, fare, timestamps)
- Device information (model, OS version, app version — for troubleshooting)
- Payment transaction references (we never store your MoMo PIN or full card details)
2. How We Use Your Data
- Matching you with the nearest available driver
- Calculating your fare accurately
- Processing payments via MTN or Airtel MoMo
- Sending trip receipts and important service notifications
- Resolving disputes between riders and drivers
- Improving the Snap Rides app and experience
3. Location Data
Your location is only collected while the Snap Rides app is open and in use. We do not collect your location when the app is closed or running in the background. Drivers can only see your pickup location — not your home address or other saved places.
4. Sharing Your Data
We share your data only when necessary:
- With your assigned driver: your first name and pickup location
- With MTN / Airtel: your phone number and payment amount to process MoMo transactions (subject to their own privacy policies)
- With authorities: only when required by the laws of South Sudan
We do not sell your personal data to advertisers or third parties.
5. Mobile Money (MTN & Airtel)
When you pay via MTN Mobile Money or Airtel Money, your transaction is processed by the respective network operator. Snap Rides only stores a transaction reference number — not your PIN, wallet balance, or personal MoMo account details. Review MTN and Airtel's privacy policies for how they handle your financial data.
6. Data Retention
We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. After you delete your account, we keep records for up to 2 years for legal, dispute, and financial audit purposes, after which they are permanently deleted.
7. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access a copy of the data we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate personal information via your profile settings
- Request deletion of your account

8. Security
Your data is stored on Google Firebase infrastructure, which uses industry-standard encryption in transit and at rest. Snap Rides staff access is role-restricted and logged. However, no digital system is 100% secure — if you believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately.
9. Children
Snap Rides is for users aged 18 and above. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If we become aware that a minor has created an account, we will delete it promptly.
10. Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you within the app when material changes occur. Your continued use of Snap Rides after notification means you accept the updated policy.
